Part IV – Concludes our tribute to women of green: courageous, committed and persistent

The current paradigm of health industry is sickness. The business of sickness is what hospitals, medical equipment makers, pharmaceutical companies, physicians and surgeons live on. However, focusing on sickness will never make for healthy citizens, businesses, communities or nations. We must create a new paradigm of disease prevention: diet and lifestyle changes that prevent illness before it starts and even reverse existing conditions.

Numerous studies and research have shown how lifestyle changes, including exercise, stress management, restful sleep, meditation, healthy diet, emotional and social wellbeing, can prevent almost ninety percent (90%) of chronic illnesses in our society. We now know that Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular illness in general, and many types of cancers are preventable. In addition, almost every chronic disease is related to inflammation in the body and can be improved through nutrition, life style change and psycho-spiritual modifications.

Nutrition is CRUCIAL. Sadly, very often I came face to face with women with cancer and close family members who do not realize that nutrition has a big impact on survival rate and overall health.

Sugar feeds cancer cells and lowers the immune system. Gluten and dairy products are inflammatory and will cause more inflammation, slowing down the cellular repair processes. Artificial colorings, flavorings, dyes, hormones, and preservatives in food are often carcinogens. On the flip side, certain vegetables such as dark green leafy greens: moringa, ampalaya, alugbati, sweet potato leaves, kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and parsley have chemical compounds proven to prevent and fight cancer.

Again, prevention is the best cure! Juicing is an effective way to greatly increase your daily nutritional intake of phytonutrients in order to maintain a healthy body.

The Green Secret’s healthy women’s Juice: Green Liquid Pizza

Make sure to thoroughly scrub and wash all vegetables and fruits before juicing. It taste like pizza, while reducing inflammation, antioxidant, cancer prevention and full immunity boost!

Basil (fresh) – 1 dash * 0.175g
1/2 head medium Cauliflower
1 Cucumber
2 cups Cherry tomatoes
1/2 inch fresh Turmeric
Juice all ingredients. Add a dash of rock salt for a little extra flavor (optional). Let it steep for an hour for a warm, pizza-like drink. Mix well.
